Jeff Toomer is a native of Durham, NC and trusted Christ as Savior during his plebe year at West Point while participating in a Navigators' Bible study. Jeff has travelled many places during his 20-year service as an Army officer, culminating with battalion command at Fort Bragg, NC. His career included four tours of leading Soldiers in combat as an artillery officer. Upon retiring from the Army in 2008, Jeff entered vocational ministry in Fayetteville, NC, serving as a pastor/director of operations at the church his family attended since 2002. He went on to serve as a site pastor where he led and shepherded a congregation with a weekend attendance of more than 3,500 people. In 2012, God called Jeff and his family to the DC metro area to reach people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Jeff is a 1988 graduate of West Point. He holds Masters Degrees in Counseling and Leader Development (1998, Long Island University) and Military Arts and Sciences (2002, Command and General Staff College, School of Advanced Military Studies). He is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary.
Jeff has been married to Laryssa for 23 years. They have three children: Jonathan, David, and Zoe.
Nick joined the pastoral team at theTransit in October of 2016. Prior to that, he served as a Youth Pastor for over six years and as a Security Training Specialist with United States Investigative Services for eight years. He has a degree in Russian and Eurasian Studies from George Mason University and a Master of Arts in Religion from Reformed Theological Seminary.
Nick is a native of Fairfax, Va and has been happily married to his wife Jen for over six years. They currently live in Franconia, Va with their two daughters Kelsey and Stephanie. In his free time, he enjoys the outdoors, reading paired with a great cup of coffee, all things ice hockey and spending time with his wonderful family.
Transit Church is governed by a plurality of elders. Elders are men who are called by God and qualified by the local church, in accordance with Scripture, to lead and care for church members, oversee finances, and set vision for the church.
Titus 2 Team
Transit Church has a Titus 2 Team of spiritually mature, godly women who come alongside the elders in caring for the church.
