We don’t know much detail about the three decades of Jesus’ life, but the fascinating feature of the story of the passion is that from Good Friday to his crucifixion, the Gospel writers give us great detail; almost a slow motions sequence frame by frame. The reason is important: the crucifixion is the story on which the world’s redemption hangs. Jesus’ last days highlights the atonement; his suffering for human sin on the cross. Isaiah rightly called him a man of sorrows.
