The story of the Exodus is the most significant, historical and theological event in the entire Old Testament. It’s not just a story about Moses, the deliverer who comes to save a nation of people. The book of Exodus and the Exodus story is a mirror image of our story. It offers us the greatest picture of redemption in the Bible, short of the Person and work of Jesus. In the Exodus, God calls Israel out of slavery, and that is immensely good news for them; but it’s good news for us today, to those who are in bondage to sin. God calls them out of Egypt and brings them out of all the things that are enslaving them. And at the end of the day, God calls us out of all the things that are enslaving us as well.
